Just like the hymn "There Is A Fountain", "Are You Washed In The Blood" invokes the uncomfortable image of being washed in blood. But this image of Christ's blood is a positive one, for Christ's blood replaced all other sacrifices with one perfect sacrifice, once and for all. This "washing in blood" is an acknowledgement that no other blood must ever be spilled for us to be forgiven of our sins.
